Empowering MSMEs in Central Indonesia with UPPAYA and TELAS MSMEs

Instellar together with PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMMAN) and Bahasa Bisnis initiated UPPAYA (Usaha Pemudi Pemuda Berdaya) and UMKM TELAS (Tumbuh, Berdaya, dan Naik Kelas), economic empowerment programs aimed at supporting the youth and MSMEs in Jereweh, Maluk, and Sekongkang Districts, West Nusa Tenggara.

Running since September 2022, the two programs have a total of 36 business beneficiaries from various sectors and products. After carrying out a series of activities for twelve months, we will hold a graduation event for the participants on September 17 2023.

Workshop and mentoring for MSMEs

UPPAYA and UMKM TELAS consist of 6 phases, namely program launch, workshop and mentoring, business visits, stakeholder collaboration, sharing sessions (KUMPAYA), and ending with graduation. The workshops provided to participants include financial planning, business planning, pricing strategies, marketing, and creating logos and taglines to help support business operations and business development.

Connecting MSMEs with stakeholders

Not only that, Instellar with AMMAN and Bahasa Bisnis also made the effort to connect program participants with stakeholders such as government, retail, and gift shops with the aims to make it easier for them to distribute and commercialize their products as well as to network. We’ve succeeded in connecting a couple of program participants with stakeholders, among whom are Abon Sherina, who now distributes their products to the Toko Oleh-oleh Dynasti, as well as Virica Chips, Roti Sultan, and Abon Sherina, who distribute their products to KSB Mall.

KUMPAYA (Temu Kumpul UPPAYA)

The UPPAYA program closed with a sharing session activity entitled KUMPAYA (UPPAYA Gathering). In this sharing session, participants were encouraged to share with each other about the obstacles their businesses faced as well as plans for developing their businesses in the future. Mr. Tohri, owner of Roti Sultan who is a UMKM TELAS participant and one of big businesses in Maluk District, West Nusa Tenggara, was also present to share his experience and knowledge regarding marketing strategies and target markets.

UPPAYA & UMKM TELAS Graduation

After running for 12 months, UPPAYA & UMKM TELAS have come to an end. To close the program, UPPAYA & UMKM TELAS Graduation will be held on September 17, 2023. This event will have product exhibitions, presentation of program certificates, and opportunities to network with invited guests from local services, the MSME community, and colleagues from AMMAN.

Produce 14 prototype products

During the program, Instellar has assisted business actors in empowering their businesses. This is proven through the birth of 14 prototype products from the UPPAYA program, the emergence of 11 potential new businesses, the achievement of income of almost 50 million from the UPPAYA program, two businesses from UPPAYA and one business from UMKM TELAS were able to sell their products at the AMMAN food court, and two businesses from UMKM TELAS successfully processed the Home Industry Food Production (P-IRT) permit.
