Accelerating social innovation is the main purpose of Instellar as an ecosystem builder for social enterprises. It is a pride for Instellar to present Asia Social Innovation Conference (ASIC), is the event where we encourage everyone to take courageous steps in coming up with innovative and sustainable business ideas to improve the world.

We believe that the social challenges faced by many Asian countries are similar. By learning from the numerous examples of social innovations happening all over Asia, ASIC will be an effective solution to challenging and often systemic social and environmental issues in support of social progress.

A two-day event, ASIC also features discussion panels and un-conference by many stakeholders from Asia and all over the world. We strongly believe ASIC would be beneficial for social enterprise players and enthusiasts. ASIC can be one of the best experiences not just in how social enterprises become a solution and a force for good, but also as the opportunity for active collaboration of constituents across stakeholders of social enterprises in Asia.

Social innovations are the best solution that offers an efficient, sustainable, and positive social change or solution for the social problem. To speed up the process of problem-solving, these innovations can be shared through a forum. ASIC 2018 focused on 3 topics; circular economy, renewable energy, and B-Corp.

Held for two days, 1 – 2 November 2018 in Denpasar, Indonesia, there were a total of eight sessions on this event. The first day was held in Harris Hotel and the second was in Kembali Innovation Hub.

On the first day, five sessions in total, consisting of:

“State-Of-The-Art Innovation In Sustainable Energy Management” with Ratri Wuryandari, CSR Regional Manager for East Asia & Japan Zone of Schneider Electric; Refi Kunaefi, Project Development Director of Akuo Energy Indonesia; Shana Fatina, CEO of Tinamitra Mandiri; Ted Martynov, CEO of SolarHome; and Agus Sari, CEO of Landscape Indonesia as the panelists,

Day two of the event was held at Kembali Innovation Hub and continued by village visitation to Desa Nyambu, an ecotourism village in Bali, Indonesia.

The Un-Conference: Sustainable Living is devoted to unpacking thoughts, questions, and wild ideas. Facilitated by four experts, the Un-Conference will be divided into 4 groups, namely Green Living, Technology, Women, and Impact Investing. Participants can choose which group they want to be part of for a 2.5-hour lively discussion with:
1. Margareth Meutia, Footprint Campaign Coordinator of WWF Indonesia as the Green Living subtopic facilitator;
2. Ramya Prajna Sahisnu, Co-Founder & Co-CEO of ThinkWeb as the Technology facilitator;
3. Priscilla Henriette, Partner of Innate Motion Worldwide as the Women sub-topic facilitator; and
4. Stephanie Hermawan, Angel investor as the Impact Investing facilitator.
Visit Ecotourism Village: Desa Nyambu: Desa Nyambu, located at the southern tip of Tabanan Regency, is one of the few urban villages in Bali, with agricultural land comprising 61% of the total area. Desa Nyambu is a great destination for those who want to feel and understand Bali’s cultural heritage as it has evolved over thousands of years, but who have limited time.
