Young innovators and digital talents gathered at Bali Headquarters for an innovative event that aims to shape a sustainable future through technology. The Digital Hub Collaboration Roadshow, in collaboration with the UK-Indonesia Tech Hub and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo), was held on Friday, June 21, 2024 to kick off the launch of the Digital Hub program. The Digital Hub pioneers the collaboration of green innovators and digital talents in the agriculture/climate/technology sector through two sub-programs, namely the Hatch x PEDE Incubation program and Digital Talents Development, a collaboration between UK-Indonesia Tech Hub x Gerakan Nasional 1000 Startup Digital or Markas and implemented by Instellar.
With a focus on fostering collaboration among innovators in agriculture, green technology, and digital talent, the event delivered engaging discussions and insights. Titled “Digital Adoption for Green and Climate Sustainability: Paving the Way to a Sustainable Future”, the event was moderated by Fenna Marliasari, Program Manager of the UK-Indonesia Tech Hub. Also present were three professional panelists: I Gede Agus Ajarwa Tangkas, Head of Informatics Infrastructure and Applications, Bali Province Diskominfo; Erlangga Bayu, CEO of BTI Energy; and Nadea Nabila, Co-founder of Azura Indonesia. Together, they explored how digital technology can promote environmental sustainability and pave the way for a greener future.
Nadea emphasized that Indonesia has many untapped green sectors, one of which is water resources. Realizing the huge potential, she proposed an innovative solution through Azura Indonesia, an electric engine for small boats to help fishermen reduce their operational costs. As a complementary effort, Erlangga shared how he utilizes renewable energy opportunities such as solar power and electric motors to support a greener future and lifestyle. Agus mentioned the Bali government’s support initiatives for the digital ecosystem, such as the Smart Island program to improve internet access in rural areas and the innovative Bali Media Center app that aims to boost local businesses. The speakers also discussed strategies for securing funding, emphasizing the importance of market research, project acquisition, and participation in competitions as sources of seed funding. These strategies are important steps to build a strong business foundation and attract investors.
Recognizing the formidable challenges in digitally untapped areas of Indonesia, where access to knowledge, markets, funding, and technical support is limited, we empower aspiring social innovators through innovative incubation and capacity building programs to bridge this gap. Through the Hatch x PEDE Incubation program, selected innovators will undergo 3 months of intensive training and mentorship. The program is designed to grow and develop innovative solutions in the green, climate, and agriculture sectors, equipping startups with essential skills in business strategy, product development, and market access. The program serves as a catalyst to drive sustainable solutions that address pressing environmental issues. By nurturing a new generation of visionary leaders, the initiative aims not only to drive economic empowerment, but also to foster a culture of innovation and resilience within local communities. We seek to unlock untapped potential and pave the way towards a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.
If you have an idea or startup in the green tech, climate, or agriculture sectors, this is a golden opportunity to grow and make an impact! Join the Hatch x PEDE incubation program supported by the UK-Indonesia Tech Hub, 1000 Startup Digital Movement, Markas, and Instellar.
