The HATCH x PEDE Incubation Programme kicked off its Surabaya cohort with an onboarding activity that took place on July 9-10, 2024 at MARKAS Surabaya. Participating in the onboarding were the 10 green innovators selected for the programme, which are Ecowood, BumiBaik, Hawa, and STB Pellet from the climate sector, and Crustea, KerabaTani, Hidroponic.id, Agrisolute, AgritronZ Nusantara, and Calty Farm from the agriculture sector. The event aimed to welcome the 10 green innovators as the Surabaya cohort of the HATCH x PEDE Incubation Programme as well as to equip them with the support they need to scale up their business.
During the two-day event, the 10 green innovators were given orientation as a provision for the incubation programme that will run for the next 3 months, with a focus on building a sustainable and high-impact business through the utilization of digital technology. The onboarding programme is expected to improve their capabilities in managing businesses and impact, from strategic planning to effective operational execution.
On the first day, Adistri Chandra, Chief Operating Officer of Instellar, invited the green innovators to temporarily remove their ‘startup leader’ label and set the goals they want to achieve. By sharing with each other the stories of how they discovered innovations that inspired them, they were able to create a bond which will drive them to encourage and support each other. In addition, they’re also encouraged to explore potential collaboration ideas that could open up new opportunities for their business growth.
Andrew Tobing, Chief Operating Officer of Crowde, joined the event on the second day to facilitate the first strategic workshop, “Innovating to Elevate Through a Sustainable Business Growth Strategy” designed to guide the green innovators in clarifying their vision and missions to ensure that they have the same understanding of their organization’s vision, mission, and core values. Having clarified that, they went to identify the priorities and key areas that will have the most significant impact in achieving their strategic goals. The workshop allowed them to develop a detailed action plan, which outlines the steps needed to achieve their strategic priorities, including timelines, resources, and responsibilities.
Indonesia’s pressing environmental and social challenges require sustainable solutions. However, startups and social enterprises outside Jakarta still struggle to gain access to knowledge, markets, funding and technical assistance. To bridge this gap, we empower aspiring social enterprises through innovative incubation and capacity building programmes. The HATCH x PEDE Incubation Programme not only provides green innovators with new insights and skills, but also builds a strong collaborative network between startups in Surabaya and Bali. By supporting and collaborating with each other, the green innovators are expected to create innovative solutions that are sustainable and have a positive impact in the long run.
HATCH x PEDE Incubation Programme unlocks pathways for green businesses to harness the full potential of sustainable technologies, paving the way for a green future.
