After a series of online meetings, Instellar & IKEA Social Entrepreneurship Indonesia Accelerator (I-SEA) organized peer learning sessions in which I-SEA Changemakers can meet face-to-face to discuss with and learn from each other. Peer learning is about involving everyone in the process, so in these offline meetings everyone takes turn to share the experience of learning they go through before they achieve a milestone.
On June 18th, the first session of I-SEA Peer Learning was held at South Jakarta. This is I-SEA Changemakers’ first offline meeting since they’ve been selected as participants! Taking turns each session to share their stories, Plepah got first turn. Representing Plepah, Rengkuh Banyu and Almira Zulfikar shared with everyone their experience on how they managed to secure a funding from BRI Ventures.
Two months later on August 12th, joined by a representative from IKEA Indonesia, the second session of I-SEA Peer Learning was held. This being their second offline meeting, I-SEA Changemakers were seen to be more comfortable with each other. In this session, Omar Stamboel and Reza Adhiatma (Eca) from Westbike Messenger Service (WMS) had their turn to share their stories.
Started out as a bicycle store and community, WMS has grown to be a logistics service employing hundreds of bicycle couriers spread in six cities in Indonesia; Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang Selatan, Bandung, Surabaya, and Medan. Having been a bicycle courier since 2014, Eca spoke about the ups and downs of having this profession; from Jakarta’s harsh weather to competing with online taxibike.
