Instellar and IKEA Social Entrepreneurship Indonesia Accelerator 2021: Build Businesses in an Equal and Inclusive Society

Jakarta, [Date] – After more than a year through the Covid-19 pandemic, social entrepreneurs have proven that their participation has played an important role not only in the business ecosystem, but also in maintaining the quality of life of the Indonesian people. They have helped the government and communities including those in marginalized areas in mobilizing resources, distributing supplies, ensuring home care services, even facilitating swab tests and supporting vaccination activities.

In order to support the business continuity of social entrepreneurs and improve the welfare of vulnerable communities or those in marginalized areas, IKEA Social Entrepreneurship working together with Instellar and IKEA Indonesia, launched a collaboration program called Instellar and IKEA Social Entrepreneurship Indonesia Accelerator (I-SEA). IKEA Social Entrepreneurship is a global initiative by IKEA, a Swedish home furnishings retail, that focuses on empowering social entrepreneurs from around the world. Together with Instellar Indonesia, a company that aims to provide impact-focused support and capacity building activities for and social entrepreneurs and businesses, I-SEA invites social entrepreneurs to join and take the opportunity to improve their ventures to achieve the vision and mission of building a business in an equal and inclusive society.

The Java-centric development and the entrepreneurial ecosystem gap outside Java has determined the direction of this program to focus on social entrepreneurs that target social and environmental impacts outside Java and/or social entrepreneurs who are currently operating in Java but have long-term plans to develop targeted affected areas outside Java. Through the I-SEA program, Instellar, IKEA Indonesia and IKEA Social Entrepreneurship hope to reduce the ecosystem gap between Java and areas outside Java and provide opportunities for social entrepreneurs to collectively develop Indonesia to its remote corners through impactful entrepreneurship.
