Since its founding in 2017, Instellar has worked on various projects and programs as a catalyst, connector and platform for the community to develop business ecosystems and social entrepreneurship. Instellar provides a variety of curriculum for incubation and acceleration programs, offers professional guidance and understands the goals of each company by implementing the best program that suits their needs.
In 2022, Instellar was entrusted by various parties to help more impact entrepreneurs. Instellar collaborated with the UK-Indonesia Tech Hub to organize CybHER, a program that aims to educate and empower Indonesian women through cybersecurity transformation.
Instellar also held the culmination of the Hyundai Startup Challenge 2022 where 15 startups pitched before the leaders of Hyundai Motor Group and venture capitals. The event was held offline for the first time and was attended by more than 100 social enterprises, local venture investors, as well as Indonesian government officials such as Director of Applications, Games, TV and Radio of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Iman Santosa.
In addition, Instellar is also working with IKEA Social Entrepreneurship and IKEA Indonesia to present Instellar & IKEA Social Entrepreneurship Indonesia Accelerator (I-SEA), a two-year program that aims to support Indonesian social entrepreneurs to grow their business. This program also focuses on creating opportunities for social entrepreneurs so that they can have a positive impact on the environment and Indonesian society, especially those outside Java Island.
With so many achievements that Instellar made in the past year, it makes Instellar even more eager to continue supporting social enterprises, corporations and various organizations to continue creating a positive impact on Indonesia as a whole. Romy Cahyadi also shared Instellar’s plans for the next five years, which are…
Instellar realizes that most of the incubation programs are still concentrated in Java. Therefore, one of the plans is to do more collaboration with various corporations and communities to reach more social enterprises outside of Java.
Starting from 2022, Instellar began to spread its wings to Eastern Indonesia. In West Sumbawa Regency, Instellar implements UPPAYA (Empowered Youth Business) and UMKM TELAS (Grow, Develop and Advance Class), an economic empowerment program supported by PT AMMAN.
Through the MSME Recovery Program from the Covid-19 Pandemic funded by Facebook Ireland, Instellar together with MALA Ecotours supported communities in Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, to develop and sell local products such as shredded tuna, corn granola, roasted cashews, walnuts, weaved crafts, and home decoration products.
It doesn’t stop there, Instellar’s next plan is to invest in social enterprises. To develop, early-stage social enterprises are estimated to require an investment of less than 1 million US dollars. This figure is considered too small for most venture capitals. Therefore, Instellar wants to fill this gap and start investing using an innovative financing system.
Moving forward Instellar also wants to support more incubators and accelerators to develop social enterprises. Some of them are by helping to plan customized programs with corporate partners in carrying out incubation, acceleration, strategic planning and investment readiness programs. With this plan in mind, it is our hope that Instellar will continue to be a mobile company with the goal of helping businesses become more impactful, sustainable and scalable.
