The Indonesian market continues to attract significant attention from investors in the technology industry, indicating substantial potential within the global business ecosystem. This interest has also attracted the KT&G Startup Sangsang Camp, a startup incubator program from Korea, organized by the KT&G—a leading global company from South Korea specializing in tobacco and ginseng production. The entire journey in Indonesia is encapsulated in the Deep Impact Discovery Trip, a visit designed to empower young Korean social innovators to understand the Indonesian market and establish collaborations and partnerships with young Indonesian social innovators. Over four days, from July 23-26, they will visit and meet directly with startup entrepreneurs, investors, and other industry stakeholders in Indonesia. This event is facilitated by Merry Year Social Company (MYCS) from Korea and Instellar.
Five Korean startups participating in the KT&G Sangsang Startup Camp program will be facilitated to meet with Indonesian startups and stakeholders. They are ROVIGOS, Yune Inc., GREEN CONTINUE, DIVE IN Group, and Slunch Factory. Each of these startups operates in different sectors and offers unique business solutions. ROVIGOS provides a smart logistics AI solution focused on carbon emission monitoring and helping reduce emissions in the logistics process. Yune Inc. develops recycling solutions for clothing based on a circular economy to extend the life cycle of garments and reduce pollution. GREEN CONTINUE offers an innovative solution by turning discarded cactus leaves and fruit peels into quality leather. Slunch Factory produces various vegan Home Meal Replacement (HMR) products using byproducts such as soft tofu and locally sourced agricultural produce. Lastly, DIVE IN presents an immersive art platform that transforms a stay into a unique and memorable art adventure.
The Deep Impact Discovery Trip is not just about market exploration through meetings with local startups in Indonesia but also facilitates direct meetings with venture investors to promote strategic partnerships. This is expected to become a collaboration platform that drives business growth and accelerates positive changes in Indonesia’s economic ecosystem. “The Deep Impact Discovery Trip reflects our commitment to creating sustainable impact beyond mere market exploration. This initiative empowers young social innovators with the networks they need to tackle global challenges and deliver positive impacts on a global scale,” said Young A Sim, KT&G Head of ESG Management Office.
“By providing these young entrepreneurs with resources and connections, we aim to create an environment where innovative solutions can thrive. We believe that through collaboration and knowledge sharing, these young entrepreneurs will be able to effectively and sustainably address pressing global issues, ultimately contributing to a better shared future,” added Young A Sim.
The event highlighted the enthusiasm of Korean social innovation startups eager to learn about the Indonesian market. This collaboration is crucial for maximizing the potential of each social initiative and underscores the importance of international cooperation in driving better social change for Indonesia. Additionally, this collaboration is expected to continuously strengthen the commitment to support social innovators in Indonesia and accelerate the growth of a dynamic and sustainable innovation ecosystem.
